How much does damp proofing treatment cost?

Treatment costs vary enormously because 'damp proofing' covers many different jobs. The honest answer starts with a diagnosis, which is why we always survey before quoting for works.

What drives the cost

• The type of problem: a condensation fix (ventilation) costs a fraction of a failed DPC or dry rot outbreak
• The extent: one wall or the whole ground floor
• The property's construction and how easy the affected areas are to reach
• Making-good: replastering, redecoration, and reinstating skirtings often cost as much as the treatment itself

As a guide, chemical damp proof course (DPC) injection typically starts from £70–£100 per metre of wall, with salt-resistant replastering on top. Condensation solutions (extractor fans, positive input ventilation) commonly run from a few hundred pounds. Timber treatment and dry rot eradication are quoted case by case, as the extent is rarely clear until opening-up.

Beware of quotes produced without a proper diagnosis. The cheapest treatment is the one you don't need. An independent £300 survey routinely saves multiples of its cost by ruling out unnecessary works, and gives you a specification to get like-for-like quotes against.
