Japanese Knotweed Removal
Identified and Treated Japanese Knotweed to prevent further growth - Croydon CR0 - July 2024
What is Japanese Knotweed?
Japanese knotweed is a plant whose roots can cause structural damage to properties rendering them unsuitable for mortgage lending. Japanese Knotweed is very difficult to completely remove without excavating the ground down to 1.5 metres and completely replacing the soil. We identified the plant amongst a host of leaves and vegetation present and treated it from its base above ground to prevent further growth. We revisited the site after 6 months and the plant was no longer visible in the garden.
How we remove Japanese Knotweed
Japanese Knotweed is a complicated plant, known to cause structural damage to properties. In order to identify Japanese Knotweed, you need to identify the plants pattern as shown in the example images below.
Once identified, we conduct a ground excavation process down to 1.5 metres to remove the root and replace the soil completely with fresh soil. We treat the area and surrounding plants, re-surface the ground and finally revisit the garden to ensure the plant isn’t visible again, and has been completely removed.
